Patients have more choices for health services in Abu Dhabi, HAAD. - WAM - United Arab Emirates News Agency

Abu Dhabi, April 3rd, 2011 (WAM) -- The Emirate of Abu Dhabi has seen a 17 per cent increase in the number of doctors, 88 per cent increase in Cancer Doctors, 58 per cent in Psychiatry and 13 per cent in Pediatrics, said Health Authority, Abu Dhabi, (HAAD).

Patients also have a wider range of services than ever before. Thousands of patients have benefited from specific initiatives, including Mobile breast cancer screening across the Emirate, new Neonatal Services , new Gastroenterology Diagnostic and Treatment Center, extended accident and emergency services , expanded thoracic surgery and cochlear implant programs, new services in medical rehabilitation, nuclear medicine and cardiology , pediatric kidney transplantations ,new services for pulmonology, uro-gynaecology and gastroenterology , dialysis services availability , and numerous new outpatient clinics providing service across all specialties.

Eng. Zaid Al Siksek, CEO of HAAD said: 'HAAD is continuously working on improving healthcare services to meet the demand for quality healthcare and to ensure reliable excellence in healthcare for the community.' 'Abu Dhabi health services network has improved in 2010. The new or expanded services give patients greater freedom to choose their healthcare provider across a wide range of specialties. Patients now generally have slightly shorter waiting times,' he added.

Consistent with the vision for the Health system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Private healthcare providers are playing a bigger role in the health sector offering services that were previously only available in SEHA facilities, or more convenient services for customers.
